Director’s Welcome

Thank you for your interest in West Jefferson Christian School.

What makes WJCS unique is our approach to Christian education. A Christian education is more than simply attending a private school, and it is far more than adding a Bible class to a student’s schedule. We believe Christian education is first and foremost a responsibility given by God to parents.

As both a pastor and school director, my desire is to partner with families as they seek to fulfill that God-given responsibility. At WJCS, we are committed to Kingdom Education and believe that the home, church, and school should work together to consistently encourage students to live “on mission” for God.

By building our foundation upon the principles of God’s Word, we seek to develop a strong biblical worldview in the hearts and minds of our students. Our goal is to prepare them spiritually, academically, socially, and creatively for wherever God leads them in life.

While we hope this information answers many of your questions, we understand it may raise new ones as well. We would love the opportunity to speak with you personally or welcome you for a visit to WJCS.

May God bless you as you seek the right educational environment for your child.

About the Director

Pastor Joseph Howard serves as the founder and director of West Jefferson Christian School. He and his wife, Lauren, have been married for over sixteen years and are the grateful parents of six children.

Joseph joined the Faith Baptist Church family in November of 2020 after serving for nearly ten years at Trussville Southside Baptist Church, where he received extensive spiritual training and discipleship under his pastor. In 2025, he became the founder and director of Gospel Advance South Sudan. Through a burden for Christ-centered education and the leading of the Holy Spirit, he launched West Jefferson Christian School in 2026.

A native of Trussville, Alabama, Joseph graduated with honors from Hewitt-Trussville High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University with Summa Cum Laude honors.

Pastor Howard is passionate about helping families raise children with a strong biblical worldview and preparing students to serve God faithfully in every area of life.
