Job Summary
West Jefferson Christian School is seeking a motivated and caring Homeschool Teacher for grades 3–5. The Full-Time Homeschool program will run daily from Monday to Friday from 7:50-12:14. We are looking for someone who is passionate about Christian education, knowledgeable in elementary instruction, and committed to helping students grow both academically and spiritually in a Christ-centered environment. The ideal candidate will teach students across multiple elementary grade levels using the Abeka curriculum while encouraging academic excellence, Christlike character, and the development of a biblical worldview.
Key Responsibilities
Teach elementary students in a multi-grade classroom using the Abeka curriculum.
Prepare weekly lesson plans and deliver daily instruction in accordance with the school's curriculum and educational philosophy.
Effectively manage classroom instruction for students across two elementary grade levels.
Reinforce biblical principles and Christian values through classroom instruction and student interactions.
Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages academic achievement and spiritual growth.
Evaluate student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, and classroom observations.
Maintain accurate student records and communicate consistently with parents, parent-teacher conferences, and other school communication channels.
Encourage parents in their role of reinforcing and remediating classroom instruction at home.
Work collaboratively with the Homeschool Director and fellow faculty members to strengthen the overall educational experience.
Participate in school activities such as chapel services, faculty meetings, mentoring opportunities, field trips, and co-curricular events.
Stay informed on current educational practices and continue growing professionally as an educator.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred.
State teaching certification preferred.
Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.
Experience teaching multiple grade levels or working in a homeschool environment preferred.
Familiarity with the Abeka curriculum preferred.
Strong Christian testimony and support of the mission and values of West Jefferson Christian School.
Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Ability to connect with and engage students across a variety of learning levels while effectively managing a classroom.

The ideal candidate will encourage students to pursue excellence, develop musical skill, and cultivate a biblical understanding of worship and music.
Key Responsibilities
Teach music courses for students in grades 6–8, including music theory and foundational music instruction.
Provide leadership and oversight for the school’s music program.
Direct and develop the school choir program, including preparation for performances and competition opportunities.
Teach instrumental music and help students develop musical proficiency and discipline.
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support student growth and align with the mission of the school.
Incorporate biblical principles and Christian values into music instruction and student interactions.
Cultivate an appreciation for worshipful, God-honoring, and conservative Christian music.
Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages musical development, academic achievement, and spiritual growth.
Evaluate student progress through performances, assignments, projects, and assessments.
Communicate consistently with parents, students, and school leadership regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to strengthen the overall educational experience.
Participate in school activities such as chapel services, faculty meetings, mentoring opportunities, and co-curricular events.
Provide private music lessons outside of classroom responsibilities for additional compensation, as available.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Education or a related field is preferred.
Previous teaching or music instruction experience preferred.
Experience directing choirs, ensembles, or instrumental groups preferred.
Strong working knowledge of music theory and instrumental instruction.
Strong familiarity with worshipful, conservative Christian music and philosophy.
Strong Christian testimony and support of the mission and values of West Jefferson Christian School.
Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Ability to connect with and engage students across a variety of musical backgrounds and skill levels.
