Academics & Student Life
Music
Music is a gift from God that should be used to cultivate worship, reverence, discipline, and creativity. Because of this, music education is an important part of the student experience at WJCS.
Each student will receive instruction in foundational music theory, participate in choir, and learn to play a musical instrument. Our choir program emphasizes God-honoring and worshipful music that encourages students to develop both musical skill and a deeper appreciation for worship that glorifies Christ.
Music instruction is led by a well-trained musician who seeks to help students grow in both understanding and ability. In addition to classroom instruction, private lessons will be available as an extracurricular opportunity for students who desire additional development. Students may also have opportunities to participate in the music ministry of our church, including involvement in the church orchestra.
Our desire is for students to view music not merely as performance or entertainment, but as a meaningful way to worship God and use their gifts for His glory.
Chapel
Chapel is an important part of student life at WJCS and serves as a regular time of worship, biblical instruction, and spiritual encouragement for our students.
Through chapel services, students will hear preaching and teaching that addresses biblical truth in a way that is relevant to the challenges, questions, and responsibilities facing their generation. Our desire is to help students grow in wisdom, discernment, conviction, and a personal walk with Christ.
In addition to messages from school leadership, pastors and guest speakers will regularly minister during chapel services, providing students with biblical encouragement and exposure to faithful Christian leadership from a variety of ministries and backgrounds.
Chapel at WJCS is intended to strengthen the work of the Christian home and local church while continually pointing students toward a life centered upon Jesus Christ.
